The paperwork does not end when the teaching does.

You teach all day. Then the paperwork starts.

Edition 1.6 — the currency and prompt revision, October 2026 — is free to download.

Free to download from this site, in the three main reader formats: Kindle · EPUB · PDF.

The teacher’s week

Lesson-plan paperwork still to write up. A parent email that needs a careful answer tonight. Report-card comments for a whole class. Notes from a meeting that have to be written clearly while you still remember what was decided. Classroom documentation that has to be kept, dated, and filed.

None of it is teaching. All of it takes time you don’t have, in hours you were not given for it.

This site is the home of a book written for that part of the week.

What it does for your week

Lesson-plan paperwork

The week’s plan, drafted from your standard, your period length, and the materials you actually have.

Parent emails

A careful answer to a parent, drafted from the facts you supply. You check the draft, and you send it.

Report-card comments

One careful comment at a time, drafted from what you know about the work. The judgment stays yours.

Meeting notes

Notes from a meeting, written up clearly while you still remember what was decided, ready to file.

Classroom documentation

Documentation that has to be kept, dated, and filed, drafted from your own records so it stays in order.

Reporting

The reporting of Part IV: reports assembled from the facts you supply, and checked by you before use.

How it works

Paste It Into Your AI Chat — A Prompt Library for Classroom Teachers’ Weekly Paperwork, by Luis García, is itself a giant prompt.

You paste the whole book into the AI chat you already use, or upload the file. The chat then works the way the book teaches, on the weekly paperwork named above. You start from the whole book at once.

The book opens with the section “Start Here: This Book Installs Itself.” The install takes three steps:

1

Paste the book into your AI chat, or upload the file.

2

Type the install sentence (printed in full on The Book page).

3

Read what comes back.

From there, the book is set up in your AI chat to help with the weekly paperwork — the work this page opened with: lesson-plan paperwork, parent emails, report-card comments, meeting notes, and classroom documentation. You supply the facts from your own classroom. You check and send the final version.

A page from the book

At the front of the book, the Cheat Sheet holds the pieces a teacher reaches for first:

  • “The Ten Prompts You Will Use Every Week”
  • “The Five Rules That Keep You Legal”
  • “The Wall”

The book then runs in five parts:

  • Part I: The Ground Rules
  • Part II: The Weekly Work
  • Part III: The Programs
  • Part IV: Reporting on Autopilot
  • Part V: When It Goes Wrong

Part III is built on a census of 52 standardized programs across 8 categories.

The book closes with The Part of Tens, Appendices A–G, and Sources and Notes.

New in Edition 1.6: a preface written for this edition, a chapter called “Since Edition 1.5”, and six new prompts seated inside the book’s existing programs. The census still counts 52 programs across 8 categories — no program was added.

Lesson Planning

The week in one page.

"You are a planning assistant for a [grade] [subject] teacher. Here is my standard for the week: [paste standard]. Here are my constraints: [period length], [days available], [materials I actually have]. Build a day-by-day plan: objective, 10-minute opening, main activity, formative check, exit ticket. Flag anything that needs copies made."
